Ajisai in Cameron Village, Raleigh, NC

I had lunch at Ajisai Japanese Fusion & Sushi restaurant today. I started with the Tuna "Dumpling", which is tuna folded into a dumpling. Inside was a mixture of avacado and crab. On the side, some wasabi mayo sauce. Great start to a relaxing lunch out. I should mention, today was one of those days where the weather was perfect for eating outdoors. Warm but not too warm. Nice thing at Ajisai is that their outdoor seating area is covered. I LOVE that!

So after my 1st appetiser, I moved on to a 2nd appetiser. Who does that? Well what can say, it interested me so I went for it. Mini Pizzas were up next. They were delicious. Small, bite-sized and definitely not like pizza. I like the creativity used to make these little darlings. The bottom was a rice crisp, laden with spicy tuna, spicy salmon and sauce, or is that "gravy"? Hmmm....

Guess it was about time for dessert... but I was still a little hungry as those apps were, well, app-sized. So, I went with the Raleigh Roll. It consists of Lobster, cucumber & avocoado, topped with mango and a seaweed salad. Nice to have the sweetness of the mango, plus the accompanying sauce was mango infused, so, more sweetness. Yey!

Ajiisai offers a lunch menu, and I considered it, but then when I saw the tuna dumplings and the mini pizzas... I knew I was about to go a different direction. I'm glad I did, as I thoroughly enjoyed everything including the comfortable and roomy patio seating and service. All was excellent! In the future, I will give the standard lunch menu a try though . :)
