ART IN BLOOM

Starting today and running throughout the entire weekend is the ART IN BLOOM show. This is the 2nd annual show and it's happening at the North Carolina Museum of Art, in Raleigh, NC. The show runs Thursday, April 7 - 10.

Thursday, April 7 - 9AM - 5PM

Friday, April 8 - 9PM - 9PM

Saturday, April 9 - 9AM - 5PM

Sunday, April 10 - 9AM-5PM

I attended this show last year and it was a gorgeous event. Not only that, but the entire place smelled amazingly. Flowers everywhere!

So this year, when I got a sneak-peak at yesterday's media preview, I was pleasantly reminded how lovely it was to see and smell all those gorgeous flowers.

Some of these interpretations are literal, some are an interpretation of the mood and or emotion of a given piece of art. Specifically, paintings and sculptures were used in this show., .....and countless, and I do mean countless varieties of flowers!

There are over 50 displays throughout the museum. Most are on pedestals such as the one above, and a few of the very large displays are on platforms. Some of the platforms are over 6 feet tall.

Many of the floral displays used flowers that I had never seen before. Check out the very last photo I posted. Prime example of unique and unusual looking flowers being used.

There are also some beautiful creations to view outside of the museum on the grounds.

Near the entrance, you'll notice a rectangular-shaped box on a stand, which has a hole cut out of it in the shape of North Carolina. Within the box are items such as flowers, a honeycomb, a skull, and even a butterfly made out of what appears to be owl feathers. The designer is paying homage and recognizing what we live off around us whether directly or indirectly. Gorgeous!
