Art in Bloom is back and bigger than last year. It starts TODAY! 56 floral interpretations are on display this year.
This annual event is only in its 3rd year, and it has been going strong since the 1st year. I like to call it the event that appeals to all, as most people like flowers and here is a chance to view flowers that have been creatively manipluated to interpret pieces of art work from the museum's permanant collection. Get ready to see some unusual flowers as well as vastly creative interpretations.
Local and not so local floral designers come to the musem each year for this event. They choose a piece of art work that they want to interpret with a floral design. They arrive the day before the exhibition starts, with tons of product (flowers & props) that they then spend the day assempling into beautiful designs. Creativity reigns at Art in Bloom.
Last yea the event welcomed 50, 000 people for this 4-day event. This year, even more people are expected to attend. I highly recommend buying your tickets online in advance so as not to miss a chance to see it.

Side note: The cafe is doing floral inspired dishes for the duration of Art in Bloom. Sure makes me curious what kinds of of foods they'll be serving.

This painting is my favorite and I always look forward to seeing it when I visit NCMA. I really enjoyed seeing the floral interpretation of it too. Very creative.

I fell head over heels for this dress and really would have loved to rock it, but best I could hope for is posing along side it. Oh well.... Isn't it gorgeous???
