I really like Sola Coffee Cafe. It’s a cute neighborhood spot in the Greystone Village Shopping Center in a Raleigh. It’s always busy in there. I still haven’t found a slow time to go so maybe there isn't a slow time. Ha! Today was busy as ever. I typically see a lot of people in there who are camped out on their laptops, but I can usually find a spot to sit. Today there were no spots inside so I sat on the patio. Not my preference as it was really hot out, but I figured I wasn’t there to hang out and would just eat quickly & go.

Luckily there was no line and I got right up there to place my food order. I got a salad, toast & tea. My whole meal was fruit based and that was the goal. In the dead of the summer I often feel like eating fresh fruits & veggies. Basically, clean eats that aren’t cooked. I decided on the Seasonal Salad, which contained watermelon & blueberries, among some greens, granola & cheese. I’m getting into these fruity additions to typically savory dishes. It’s a really nice way of incorporating fruits that aren’t overly sweet to begin with, into a green salad. The one thing I can’t get into is the onion component when fruits are involved. Easy enough to push that to the side, which I did. Maybe one day I’ll come around.

The Ricotta & Peach Toast had a very thin smear of ricotta cheese, plenty of peach slices, & was topped with mint leaves. I enjoyed that but would’ve liked a more generous smear of ricotta. I’m thinking if there’s just 2 main ingredients on a piece of toast then they should be pretty ample. Plus I absolutely love ricotta. The Blueberry Hibiscus Iced Tea was really delicious. I will probably drive over there just to get some more of that iced tea. It was so refreshing. No sugars or syrups just a pure & natural flavor.

Overall I really liked everything. The minuses for me were the portions and prices. For a $10 salad, it was rather small and not a “meal”. Thankfully the additional toast I ordered made it a more complete “meal”, but at $5, I thought it was overpriced and not a true representation of what was advertised; Ricotta & Peaches. It was essentially, peaches on toast. Had there been an equal measure of ricotta to peaches, then it’d be worth it.
Their Instagram account features a picture of said toast and it looks pretty perfect. So, maybe a trainee prepared my toast today, as it didn’t look the same.
